Every year, Apple hands out its Design Award to outstanding apps from the iOS and macOS ecosystem. And like every year, it's worth taking a closer look at these apps. Every year, I discover small and large gems that will be included in my app list, at least for a while. Sometimes they stay in permanent use and don't fall victim to the next purge.
Among the current finalists are two weather apps (CARROT Weather, (Not Boring) Weather). I'm especially happy about 1Password, one of my all-time favorites and permanent owner of a prime spot on my home screen. Pok Pok Playroom one of the rare species of toddler app worth mentioning. Personally, I'm going to take a closer look at Craft and Brief.

Update 06/10/21: The winners have now been announced in the six categories. Of the ones I mentioned, Pok Pok Playroom made it in the Delight and Fun category and CARROT Weather in the Interaction category.
